Why Season 27 Starts with Noise,
Not Silence
I won’t pretend the last few months have been easy. Between the February incidents in Puerto Vallarta and, more recently, some local situations around beach access and protection here at home, there’s been no shortage of noise pulling at the story of this region — and plenty of reasons to feel cautious about putting ourselves forward right now.
I thought about this for a long time. What can I actually do, from where I sit? And the answer I kept coming back to was simple: push forward. Promote this destination harder than ever, and — as we always have — support the local community right alongside it. Those two things have never been separate for us. They move together, hand in hand, as they always have. Let the people whose job it is to resolve what needs resolving do that work. Ours is to keep the story positive and keep moving — to drown out the noise with something better: proof that this destination, and the community behind it, is worth showing up for. The show must go on.
That’s not spin. It’s the approach and the strategy we’re taking into Season 27 — and it’s why we’re doing more this year, not less.
Every destination has a choice at the start of a season: show up everywhere, all at once, with an unmistakable story — or stay quiet and let someone else decide what people hear about you.
We’re not staying quiet.
Season 27 — Punta Mita’s launch into the 2026–2027 season — opens October 2 and doesn’t let up until November 14. In those 44 days, we’re not hosting one marquee event and hoping it carries the whole season on its back. We’re hosting seven: international junior golf, a championship tournament with the country’s top CEOs on the tee, a 100th-anniversary amateur senior championship, a golf reality show built for national television, the official culinary kickoff of the season, our 15th Gourmet & Golf, and a Grammy-caliber jazz festival. Seven different audiences, seven different stories, one unmistakable signal: Punta Mita is open, thriving, and setting the pace.
Silence is never neutral
Here’s the thing about going quiet during a season opener: it doesn’t create a blank slate. It creates a vacuum — and vacuums get filled. If we’re not the loudest, most consistent voice telling our own story, someone else’s story fills the space instead: an outdated headline, a competitor’s louder campaign, a stray negative comment that gets more airtime than it deserves simply because nothing positive was pushing back against it.
The answer to that isn’t a defensive statement or a single reactive post. It’s volume, consistency, and proof — delivered on every channel, over and over, until the positive story is simply the loudest thing in the room. You don’t out-argue a bad narrative. You out-produce it.
The math behind the buzz
This season, that’s not a slogan — it’s a plan with numbers behind it:
- 7 signature events in 44 days — a drumbeat of positive news, not a single spike that fades by the next news cycle.
- 20+ AAA media outlets invited to cover the season, across golf, lifestyle, and travel press.
- National television coverage for NB3 Junior Golf and Breaking Point, airing on Golf Channel and Prime Video.
- 200 million-plus combined potential views across the season’s events — with Breaking Point, our new golf reality format, alone estimated at 150 million.
- Celebrities and influencers — from Lorena Ochoa and Jorge Campos to Larry Brown and gourmet influencer Robe Grill — bringing their own audiences into the story.
That’s the difference between a single press release and a season-long presence. One event can be ignored. Seven events, twenty-plus media outlets, national TV, and a coordinated social push across seven straight weeks cannot.
A destination alliance, not just a resort story
This season, we’re also doing something new: formally aligning with the Secretaría de Turismo de Nayarit to present these events not just as Punta Mita news, but as flagship moments for Riviera Nayarit as a whole. That matters because reach compounds when a destination and a state tourism authority tell the same story together — official channels, social platforms, institutional presence, and press all pointing the same direction at the same time. It’s the difference between one hotel making noise and an entire destination speaking with one voice.
A season that gives back
There’s one more thing that’s true of every single one of these seven events, as it has been every year: each one carries, as always, a built-in moment to raise money for the community — coordinated through Fundación DINE Punta Mita, which channels support to Peace Punta de Mita, Fundación Punta de Mita, and Fundación Punta Mita Hospital. That means every headline, every broadcast minute, and every one of those 200 million-plus views is also working on behalf of education, healthcare, and environmental sustainability for the local community of Punta de Mita. The noise isn’t just for us — it’s amplifying good that stays home.
Buzz is coordinated, not accidental
None of this works if it’s scattered. The reason seven events in 44 days can silence noise and build unprecedented buzz is that every one of them is timed, sequenced, and amplified on purpose — social content calendared to overlap, press invited to cover the arc of the season rather than a single weekend, institutional voices (Punta Mita and Nayarit alike) speaking in the same moments. A season opener isn’t one campaign. It’s seven coordinated ones, reinforcing each other so that by the time the last note of the jazz festival plays in mid-November, «Punta Mita» has been in front of hundreds of millions of eyes — golfers, gourmets, jazz fans, press, and everyone in between — for a month and a half straight.
What this means for the season ahead
Season 27 runs all the way through April 2027. How it opens sets the tone for everything after it. A loud, proof-driven, unmistakably positive launch doesn’t just fill October and November with good news — it establishes the story everyone tells about Punta Mita for the rest of the season: a destination that’s busier, more international, and more in-demand than ever.
That’s the strategy. Show up everywhere. Show up together. And don’t leave any room for anyone else to write the story for us.
