The world-class resort’s signature restaurant, Carolina, was also honored with a 2015 AAA Five Diamond Award.
For the sixth consecutive year since opening in 2008, The St. Regis Punta Mita Resort was awarded American Automobile Association’s (AAA) Five Diamond Award for lodging and dining in the prestigious Signature Carolina Restaurant. The exclusive Resort obtained the maximum award of tourism excellence, given by the prestigious AAA to only 120 hotels among 60,000 properties judged to be of world class level. In Mexico The St Regis Punta Mita is one of only 5 hotels that have received a 5 Diamond Award for both the hotel and its restaurant. Carolina is one of only 2 Starwood hotels that possess a Five Diamond Restaurant.
“We are very pleased to be added to the distinguished and exclusive group of AAA Five Diamond properties and restaurants across the world,” said Carl Emberson, General Manager of the Resort. “Since opening six years ago, we have strived to provide guests with a luxurious yet authentic vacation experience that showcases not only the traditions and unparalleled services and amenities that define St. Regis but also the distinctive cuisine, stunning natural beauty and world-class activities found in Riviera Nayarit.”
Tony Perrone, AAA´s Regional Travel Manager, predicted that this year will see a growth in North American tourism to Mexico and especially to Riviera Nayarit´s pristine Punta Mita area.
In a ceremony celebrated with special guests and directors of The St. Regis Punta Mita Resort, Perrone reiterated that to win this distinction isn’t easy.
«With the extraordinary vision of the St. Regis family, they have built a property that exceeds the expectations of the most demanding visitors in terms of breathtaking suites, luxury, architecture, finishes, service and comfort,» said Perrone, who also cited the training of staff and great quality of the restaurants that rival any of the best restaurants in North America. AAA has inspectors trained to evaluate everything from the guest’s point of view from the moment a reservation is made, the friendliness and professionalism of the personnel, to the beauty and quality of service, among other aspects. Inspectors visit anonymously.
«The future is brilliant for tourism to Punta Mita. In recent surveys of AAA, 53 million members that represent 25% of the population of the US and Canada reveal that almost 40% of our members will travel with a passport which means many will travel outside of the United States,» he concluded.
