Over the years I have been fortunate to be involved or developed a number of different projects and Sufi Ocean Club is one I will always recall – thanks to the support of Dine and the excellent design by António Martins and project leader Cristina.

Inspired by many a Sunday in Tulum whilst on the other side of Mexico this Club is bound to be a favourite amongst those visiting Punta Mita. Now open at the Porta Fortuna resort in Punta Mita is the Sufi Ocean Club. It was developed by DINE, a Mexican real estate developer and the owner of Punta Mita, the 1,500-acre resort and luxury real estate community on the Riviera Nayarit, Mexico. The club is available exclusively for Premier Club Members and their guests.

The announcement of Sufi Ocean Club follows on the 2017 launch of Porta Fortuna Ocean Residences, an ultra-luxurious resort enclave with four-to six-bedroom, ocean view and oceanfront villas, ranging in price from $2.8 to $4 million. This residential retreat is part of Punta Mita’s multimillion-dollar re-imagination by DINE.

Sufi Ocean Club overlooks the Punta Mita Pier and the Bay of Banderas, and has an expansive saltwater pool, a grand reception hall with ocean views, wooden poolside cabanas and day beds, outdoor showers and access to the Punta Mita Pier with a new ocean gazebo.

Residents have access to seaside dining at the new Sufito Cevicheria Bar and Sufi Restaurant. A new Isla Mita boutique pop-up store will also open its doors, providing owners with access to a collection of designer resort wear and Mexican accessories. Additional offerings include a dedicated concierge service and Punta Mita Ocean Sports center, which offers ultimate water sport experiences, lessons and excursions. Guests can also enjoy music by resident DJ Franco Demichelis.

Partnering with well-known Mexican interior design firm Hadad Interiors and famed San Francisco-based designer Antonio Martins, Sufi Ocean Club will include boho chic-inspired furnishings and decor that accentuate «the modern, free-spirited vibe of Punta Mita.» Through natural textures such as the wooden sidings, wicker hanging chairs, chandeliers and lanterns, as well as the natural cream colors with off-white tones, the design is intended to create an aesthetic of both Mykonos and Tulum.

The Punta Mita peninsula is currently home to 15 residential communities. Punta Mita residents and Premier Members have access to an extended range of community facilities, including an additional resident beach club with spa services and casual dining, a fitness center, a tennis center with 10 courts, two Jack Nicklaus signature golf courses and more.
