I recently had the chance to get in a couple of rounds of this World class course home to the only PGA event outside the USA – The Mayakoba Classic which takes place in November.
Challenging and in impecable conditions El Cameleon is a course to remember.
Mayakoba is home to 3 world class hotels as well – The Fairmont , Banyan Tree and Rosewood. The Fairmont is close to golf whilst the others a 5 min ride. If I think of one thing that comes to fore in all the location – I have to ride everywhere. Indeed the surroundings are pretty and nature is plentiful however I must call a golf cart – it is all farish. I love the Fairmont room – Thai at Banyan and Tequila at The Rosewood.
When I compare with our very own Punta Mita this is how I would put the match: Punta Mita 3 Mayakoba 1
Ocean front holes in Punta Mita are plentiful – Mayakoba you get two odd peeks at the Caribean. Too much riding around and the beach is far afield. In Mayakoba you can sign anywhere within the. Gates and it will be charged to your room.
Indeed world class destinations however objectively Punta Mita wins hands down!
