This event changed my overall emotions regarding cars as I was never a big car lover. Indeed I appreciated a nice car but had never participated nor was I passionate about cars and even more so Classic Cars despite the fact that Dad had a wonderful white Jaguar when I was small in Fiji. Perhaps it was all the headache he had with his Jag in Fiji getting spare parts and the like that put me off!! Joining up whilst I as in Mendoza with the Mendoza Club of Classic Cars we came up with the Park Hyatt Cup – Rally de Las Bodegas which still takes place in Mendoza in the height of the harvest season beginning The Park Hyatt Cup is divided into 2 stages covering a total of 500km through part of the Andes and visiting 5 wineries. The Rally de las Bodegas Copa Park Hyatt forms part of the Triple Crown of Classic Car rallies in Argentina – along with the 1000 Milles Sport in Bariloche and the Rally de La Montana in Cordoba
Only Classic Car 25yrs old or more are permitted in the Rally attracting such classics as BMW 328 Model 38, Riley Sprite, Ferraris, Masseratis, Alfa Romeos, Aston Martin, Jaguar, Triumph, MG amongst others. In this edition the Rally will pass through the Terraza de los Andes, Navarro Correas, Andeluna, Monteviejo and Landelia wineries in Mendoza.
Participants from abroad join the Local and Chilean drivers can make the most of this unique and wonderful event with the guests staying at the Park Hyatt Mendoza, Opening evening cocktail, meals in the wineries during the Rally, Gala Dinner and prize giving event. I had a lot of fun with my dear friend Lito Nicastro in his 65 Ferrari as a solid if somewhat distracted co-pilot especiall after lunch in Catena Winery!! Fond memories of Mendoza and the importance of co branding ones hotel with prestigious and high end events.
