Being part of this event was in fact a truly memorable moment in my career – observing the professionalism of the PGA organization and our OHL Classic team pull it all off was an experience to remember. My teams role was focused on organizing the OHL participation in the different areas – from staff participation, table settings at the main dinners, private dinners, the hospitality areas, Pro Am teams, Monday After Tournament to name a few.

I also had the opportunity to play the PRO AM with Harris English the 2013 winner – a 11 under score was 5 off the pace and not enough to be on the podium. It was nevertheless a great day with fellow hoteliers Pat McCudden from Hyatt Kevin from Fairmont, Paul Scott – Rosewood GM Daniels father a colorful character and diehard Cubs fan. Over the 5 days I had the chance to meet Anirban Lahiri and his wife Ipsa, catch up with Aussie Marc Leishman and interact with a great number of the Pros. For the passionate golfer that I am it was like being in Disneyland for Golfers!

I have come to understand the return on investment for OHL & Mayakoba hosting this event for 10 years – it is the platform from which a destination and a city has been built. Today Mayakoba consists for 4 luxury hotels with circa 1000 rooms , luxury residences and now Ciudad Mayakoba with its 15,000 homes – a true testimony to the vision of Sr. Juan Miguel Villar-Mir

Allow me to share some memories of this week from a grateful hotelier.
