IV Pacific Cup vs. Colonial Country Club January 2020 – Punta Mita cruises to Victory
As is tradition the event began with the Welcome Dinner and Pairings for Day 1 at Sufito with the presence and speeches from both Team Captains Craig “ The Walrus” Stadler on behalf of the Punta Mita Team & Former Winning Ryder Cup Captain David Stockton Sr. on behalf of The Colonial Team.
After day 1’s best ball matches on the Pacifico Golf Course Punta Mita held a comfortable lead going into day 2’s singles matches. with Team Punta Mita enjoying a 16.5 – 7.5 lead.. however there were 39 points available going into Day 2’s individual matchplay (13 matches, 3 points each match).
With some astute pairings by Captain Stadler and help when and where needed on the course Punta Mita ended up avenging last years disappointing loss here at home with a smashing victory over the Colonial Team who had bought in a few new guns in an effort to continue their dominance and extend their lead. The Series now lies at 2 a piece.
The Pacific Cup concluded with a delicious dinner on the beach at The Pacifico Beach Club by Guest Chef Sam Choy from Hawaii which for many locals was one of the best meals we have savored on these shores. A big Mahalo to Samy , our 2 Captains and Aaron Grieshaber and his team from the Colonial for what was truly a fun few days. We look forward to the V Edition of the Pacific Cup vs Colonial
