A Taste of Punta Mita – a recipe from Casa de Mita Hotel

Roasted Poblano Chili Cream

A dear friend and long time Punta Mita resident Marc Lindskog owns this charming hotel at the end of the beach heading towards Litibu from Kupuri. Walking into the beautiful entrance of this local boutique hotel and restaurant sets the tone for the rest of a delicious meal. The atmosphere and the friendly staff make you feel right at home while enjoying a gourmet meal. I am sure many Punta Members have had memorable moments Chez Marc and I hope this recipe takes you back to moments overlooking Litibu bay.

  • 6 whole poblano chilies
  • 1 medium potato, chopped
  • 1 ½ lt. chicken or vegetable broth
  • 100 gr. cream cheese
  • 50 gr. sour cream or greek yogurt
  1. Char the chilies until completely blackened. Remove the skin.
  2. Boil the potatoes in the broth. Once cooked, add the clean chilies and boil for 5 more minutes.
  3. Blend all ingredients. Add the cream and cream cheese and mix until the desired consistency is achieved. Add more cream or cream cheese if the chilies are very spicy or less, depending on your spiciness preference.
  4. Bring to a boil and season to taste.

This recipe works great with any other kind of vegetable: fresh coriander, grilled zucchini, roasted tomato, asparagus, celery, etc.
