I was fortunate to be invited to the Ben Hogan Pro Am at this years Colonial by my friend and client of The St Regis Punta Mita Aaron Grieshaber. I took along my Punta Mita mate Marcelo Lopes. What a few days we had. Experiencing the whole set up of a PGA Tournament was unique from the Draw dinner on sunday night , meeting new friends , playing this great course, and some great Texan meals and hospitality. Our Pro was Ted Pottter III a one time PGA Winner and a very nice guy – we were 7under after 9 however did nothing on the back nine except a putt I will always remember for birdie on the Par 3 16th a 25 ft bender downhill on a glass like green – a beauty which deserved a big Embo celebration !! Jimmy holed out for a birdie from the sand on the 7th and all in all we had a great day. My caddie Mark Papini  (a guest of our hotel during gourmet golf ) and famous for the big 3\4 bottle of TX whisky was great and walking the course together gave me an opportunity to know him better – great guy. Dr Brian Marcelos caddie was heading to Rosewood Mayakoba in june – well that trip was quickly detoured to The St Regis Punta Mita! Dinner in the great Fort Worth steakhouse Friscos was both delicious and fun. The Rib eye on the bone was impeccably prepared and washed down with a Bressia from Mendoza made this a meal to remember. Jimmy – what a legend the man is!!! Keep going buddy!

On Monday I bumped into my Mate Corey Pavin 2 time Colonial Winner US Open winner and US Ryder Cup captain – we had dinner together Tuesdat at another Fort Wort Steakhouse – Silver Fox. An enjoyable even with a true champ that is Corey. Gourmet experience 1 notch down versus Friscos though pretty good.

On tuesday we played Robert Trent Jones designed Shady Oaks home to the legendary Ben Hogan – a great course with super slick greens and a superb layout. On Thursday with very loyal clients and friends Bill Lacey, Pat McNamara and Dan Harlow we played Northwood Country Club another top notch Dallas course – swayed another person to head to our hotel versus our neighbour in the Pro Shop and had a great game of Wolf which went 21 holes ! A great few days of networking, meeting key golf contacts, strengthening friendships, promoting our destination – hope to repeat in 2015. Gracias Aaron for thinking of me – I promise this Island boy appreciates your warmth . hospitslity and generosity.  So glad to Aussie Adam Scott was the winner – all those Roo Drivers I hit obviously left some magic at Colonial.
