Pacific Cup vs Colonial – Punta Mita 2021

Last week, the 2^nd Pacific Cup of the year took place at Punta Mita Golf, this time the Punta Mita team receiving the Colonia Country Club team from Fort Worth, Texas for what was the 5^th Match between the teams. Chef Pato & Team prepared a delicious meal at the  Kupuri Beach Club as we welcomed the Colonial team back to Punta Mita – Aaron Grieshaber and I began this challenge a few years back now and it has turned out to be a lot of fun. Heading up to the Colonial is always on my annual agenda and have played in many Pro Ams their with Aaron and friends as well as their Member Guest. So always great to see the boys from the Colonial.

The Colonial Country Club team began proceedings in great shape and were able to take a commanding 13 – 5 lead  after Day 1 in the 2 ball matches. Lunch in the garden followed by Cocktails at Casa Cascada hosted by Randy & Holly Nichols followed by Dinner at Sufito made it a very complete and memorable day for all our friends from the Colonial. Alas we did not tire them out !!

On Saturday, despite Punta Mita showing determination in Winning Day 2 by 18.5 – 17.5 it was not enough to overcome Day 1’s deficit with Victory and a 3 to 2 lead in our Pacific Cup Matches to date going to the boys from Fortworth Texas. The final scoreboard read Colonial 30.5 – Punta Mita 23.5 and there was to be no “Miracle in Punta Mita” on this occasion – – when all was said and done the Colonial boys and ladies celebrated in true style overlooking the 18^th Green of Pacifico – congratulations to the Colonial and better luck next time Punta Mita !!!
