I have been privileged to attend a number of the worlds best events such as The Rugby World Cup , NFL , The F1 in Buenos Aires , São Paulo & CDMX , the Masters or the Davis Cup however on this occasion thanks to Golf Channel Latin America I was able to enrichen that list with what was to date the event of a lifetime ! The 2018 Ryder Cup

Our Hosts Jasón and Hugo welcomed us with a delicious Dinner in a restaurant called La Condesa Paris – Chef Indra prepared a fantastic 6 course dinner with wine pairing – flavours reflected his French training , Asian experience and Mexican Heritage – I highly recommend this quaint restaurant with friendly and efficient staff and a personable and talented Chef

Events and what goes on prior and behind the stage has always intrigued me and I can Imagine how difficult organizing a Ryder Cup must be – golf courses are not set up like stadiums from day one so all needs to be built up logisitically speaking to ensure a successful event Never an easy task.

Up with the sparrows on Day 1 we headed out from our chicque abode in Paris towards Le Golf National Paris – low and behold it took us over 2 hours vía tube train bus – we did not repeat that route in the days to come. Not recommended – once bitten twice shy

Our group was a great melange of nationalities Jason our host USA , Marcos from Curacao , Hugo and Al schoolmates and Poms, Poli , Carlos Agustin Mexicans which made life all that much better. Each enjoyed golf their way – walking the course sitting on a particular hole, or sipping Moet & Chandon Champagne in the world class NBC Hospitality Suite locates ideally on the 14th hole as well as holes 1&2

With beautiful sunny weather the 3 days the atmosphere all around the course was Amazing – fun – respectful – colourful -memorable – sparkling : unforgettable ! The outfits worn by many deserve special mention – one of our favourites being the Queen

The NBC – Golf Channel Suite was 1st class – great food and beverages by UK Catering team , lots of high level US sports executives and their special Guest Michael Jordan – there daily with his group of mates .

After the day 1 sweep on Friday the team split up for Dinner – I joined Hugo and a somewhat Jaded Agustin at the Peninsula Rooftop bar for Cocktails and a Bite ( a somewhat pricey Croque Madame ! @ 36 Euros !! while Al and the more Gourmet segment of the group enjoyed a Parisien Big Mac ! ( for the record that group was made up of Al, Jason & Marco)

Day 2 began with certain doubt as to wether the Europeans going to extend their lead going into Sunday

After a long day Saturday we heading out for a late dinner at Christine in the Quatier Latin – bistro style food well served and tast y ! It was 2 Am when we hit the sack ! Thank god Sunday was a later start and by now we had worked out the Logistica vía Uber !

Sunday was ever too short – before we knew we were celebrating the European victory and I was heading to Charles de Gaulle to grab my flight back to Mexico – merci my Friends that was a weekend to remember !

Special recognition to team photographer Marcos – Golf Course Guide Al – transport Hugo – Betting Jasón – dressing Agustina – bubbles Carl

Merci beaucoup Jasón & Hugo for the invitation
