On a grey day in beautiful Vancouver I recently had the opportunity to play this great course with tree-lined fairways and traditional design which make Point Grey Golf & Country Club one of the true gems of the West Coast of Canada. Situated along the Fraser River, just twenty minutes from downtown Vancouver, they have the distinct reputation of being one of the area’s finest private golf clubs.

They have hosted numerous professional tournaments including both a Men’s and Ladies’ Canadian Open on a course that continues to demand the respect of the participants. On this Sunday with both playing a little above our handicaps we nevertheless had a great match with yours truly winning the Match on the 18th 1 up. Scrambling down the 18th all over the course it was not looking good until I ended the agony with  a double bogey whilst my mate Paulo got into Bunker trouble leaving the gate open for this somewhat lucky victory. 76 Nets by both of us.

The ponds and natural areas complement the manicured fairways and greens that have become our trademark. The vista of nearby mountains create a backdrop to complete a picture that, simply, has it all. Point Grey Golf & Country Club  is on my list of favourites!!

Dinner at the Gothams Steakhouse with a Paul Lohr Cab Sauv with Paulo, Teresa & Gaby made this a wonderful Sunday in Vancouver. A product driven menu with great Canadian beef and impeccably prepared  sides in an elegent setting – recommend Gothams!
